COMMONWEALTH YOUTH GAMES 2008


The Commonwealth Games Council for England is seeking a sports physician to work with Team England at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games.

This, the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games, will be held in Pune, India from 12th to 18th October 2008. The successful applicant will be available to travel for two to three weeks during October 2008. They may also be required to make a short reconnaissance visit to Pune and provide cover to sports teams in the immediate lead up to the Games.

The successful applicant will have a Diploma or MSc in SEM, evidence of continuing professional development, CPR training, IT skills and experience working with elite sport. Given the age of the participants familiarity in working with young people would be of considerable advantage.

The successful applicant will be responsible for organising all aspects of medical care prior to and at the Commonwealth Youth Games and will liaise with and report to the Hon Medical Adviser. A small honorarium may be payable.

Given a successful performance at the Commonwealth Youth Games it is anticipated that the applicant will lead the England Medical Team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
